Pengertian formula badan tanah liat menunjuk pada formula tertentu yang tersusun dari beberapa jenis tanah liat atau bahan lain yang dicampur menjadi suatu massa badan keramik. Angka-angka yang ada tersebut menunjukkan persentase jumlah tanah liat atau bahan lain yang digunakan untuk menyusun formula badan keramik.<\/p>\n

Dalam pengembangan formula badan tanah liat dapat dilakukan dengan merubah komposisi bahan atau mengurangi bahan lainnya.Pengembangan formula tanah, dapat dilakukan dengan dua cara, yaitu:<\/p>\n

Campuran Sistem Garis \u00a0<\/strong>
\nCampuran system garis merupakan campuran badan tanah liat yang dikembangkan dengan cara mencampur dua tanah liat yang sejenis. Pencampuran dua jenis tanah liat ini dilakukan dengan menambah atau mengurangi persentase masing-masing jenis tanah liat yang digunakan sehingga diperoleh beberapa formula yang memenuhi syarat untuk pembuatan benda keramik.<\/p>\n

Campuran Sistem Segitiga<\/strong>
\nCampuran sistem segitga (triaxial blend) merupakan campuran badan tanah liat yang dikembangkan dengan mencampur tiga tanah liat sejenis atau bahan lain. Hal yang sama juga berlaku untuk campuran yang melibatkan tiga tanah liat A, B dan C.<\/div>\n

Pada diagram di atas terdapat 21 formula, namun pada campuran sistem segitiga hanya ada 6.<\/p>\n

Disamping kedua jenis campuran tersebut, anda juga dapat mengembangkan jenis campuran lain yang terdiri dari empat macam tanah liat atau bahan mineral lainnya dengan cara merubah komposisi campuran. Dengan demikian terdapat banyak sekali jenis formula yang dapat diperoleh untuk bahan uji.
