a. Mudah pecah<\/strong>
\nSifat yang umum dan mudah dilihat secara fisik pada kebanyakan jenis keramik adalah britle atau rapuh, hal ini dapat kita lihat pada keramik jenis tradisional seperti barang pecah belah, gelas, kendi, gerabah dan sebagainya, coba jatuhkan piring yang terbuat dari keramik bandingkan dengan piring dari logam atau melamin, pasti keramik mudah pecah, walaupun sifat ini tidak berlaku pada jenis keramik tertentu, terutama jenis keramik hasil sintering, dan campuran sintering antara keramik dengan logam.<\/p>\n

b. Tahan suhu tinggi<\/strong>
\nSebagai contoh keramik tradisional yang terdiri dari clay, flint dan feldfar tahan sampai dengan suhu 1200 C, keramik engineering seperti keramik oksida mampu tahan sampai dengan suhu 2000 C.
\nc. Kekuatan tekan tinggi, sifat ini merupakan salah satu faktor yang membuat penelitian tentang keramik terus berkembang.<\/p>\n

Kelebihan ubin keramik<\/strong>
\na. Kaya akan ragam jenis, corak, tekstur, harga dan bahan pembentuk (batu alam, granit, marmer)
\nb. Kekuatan fisik tinggi (lebih tinggi dari parket), warna tahan sangat lama, serta mudah dalam membersihkannya.
\nc. Permukaannya anti air (daya serap airnya kecil) sehingga mudah dalam pemeliharaan dan cara membersihkan)
\nd. Tahan terhadap goresan pisau dan juga tahan panas (api).<\/p>\n

Beberapa kekurangan ubin keramik<\/strong>
\nMeledak pada musim kemarau, terjadi akibat udara (tidak semua bagian di bawah keramik solid terisi adukan) panas yang terperangkap di bawah keramik memuai dan mendorong keramik hingga pecah (Ingat Indonesia beriklim tropik lembab), penyebab lain adalah adukan kurang homogen (adukan dilakukan sebentar, kurang lama) yang memngakibatkan daya rekat tidak tahan lama sehingga beberapa waktu kemudian ubin keramik lepas.<\/p>\n
