Pada kehidupan sehari-hari, Anda sering menjumpai adanya rangkaian listrik, mulai dari rangkaian listrik yang sederhana sampai rangkaian yang sangat rumit. Pernahkah Anda mengamati rangkaian listrik pada lampu senter, radio, atau televisi? Pernahkah Anda berpikir mengapa lampu senter, radio, dan televisi dapat berfungsi?<\/p>\n

Coba kalian perhatikan gambar gardu listrik di bawah ini.

Kabel-kabel besar menghubungkan satu tempat dengan tempat lain dengan tegangan tinggi. Bagaimana seorang tukang listrik merangkai kabel itu agar tidak membahayakan? Dan bagaimana listrik dapat sampai ke rumah kalian? Untuk mengetahuinya ikuti uraian berikut:<\/p>\n

a. Arah arus elektron<\/strong>
\nKita buat suatu rangkaian arus listrik tertutup, dengan demikian didapatkan suatu proses sebagai berikut : Pada kutub negatif pembangkit tegangan (kelebihan elektron), elektron bebas pada ujung penghantar didorong menuju beban. Pada kutub positip (kekurangan elektron) elektron bebas pada ujung penghantar yang lain tertarik. Dengan demikian secara umum terjadi arus elektron dengan arah tertentu.

Arus elektron mengalir dari kutub negatip pembangkit tegangan melalui beban menuju kutub positip.<\/strong><\/p>\n

b. Arah arus secara teknik<\/strong>
\nPengetahuan teori elektron zaman dulu menduga bahwa sebagai penanggung jawab terhadap mekanisme penghantaran didalam logam adalah pembawa muatan positip dan oleh karenanya arus mengalir dari kutub positip melalui beban menuju kutub negatip. Jadi berlawanan dengan arus elektron yang sebenarnya sebagaimana diutarakan dimuka.<\/p>\n

Meskipun pada saat ini telah dibuktikan adanya kekeliruan anggapan pada mulanya, namun didalam teknik listrik untuk praktisnya anggapan arah arus tersebut tetap dipertahankan. Sehingga ditemui adanya perbedaan antara arah arus elektron terhadap arah arus secara teknik atau secara umum juga disebut arah arus.<\/p>\n

Arus listrik mengalir dari kutub positip pembangkit tegangan melalui beban menuju kutub negatip.<\/strong>
