Bila voltmeter tersebut diinginkan mempunyai batas ukur 10 VAC, maka nilai tahanan pengalinya dapat ditentukan sebagai berikut:
\nAsumsikan nilai tahanan diode arah maju Rd = 400 ohm dan akibat adanya diode rectifier kita dapatkan nilai tegangan searah sebesar:<\/p>\n

Edc = 0,45 x 10 VAC = 4,5 VDC
