Energi listrik diukur dalam satuan kilo watt-jam (kWh) dengan energimeter. Oleh karena itu energimeter juga lazim disebut sebagai kWh-meter. Driving system pada energimeter terdiri dari dua elektromagnetik dari baja silikon berlaminasi, shunt magnet dan series magnet seperti diperlihatkan dalam Gambar 7.12.<\/p>\n<p>Elektromagnetik M1 disebut series magnet dan elektromagnetik M2 disebut sebagai shnut magnet. Series magnet M1 mempunyai koil magnet yang terdiri dari beberapa lilitan kawat penghantar berdiameter lebih besar. Koil ini disebut sebagai koil arus atau current coil (CC) dan koil ini terhubung seri dalam rangkaian.<\/p>\n<p>Arus beban (load) mengalir melalui koil ini. Shunt magnet M2 mempunyai koil magnet yang terdiri dari banyak lilitan kawat penghantar berdiameter kecil. Koil ini disebut sebagai koil tegangan atau voltage coil (VC) dan koil tegangan ini terhubung paralel dengan sumber tegangan (supply voltage).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/image.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/image_thumb-1.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"293\" height=\"287\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGambar 7.12 Konstruksi Energimeter Satu Fasa<\/p>\n<p>Jadi kWh-meter juga mempunyai 4 terminal dan cara penyambungannya sama seperti watt meter. Tetapi hanya berbeda di dalam konstanta ukurnya. Pada bagian bawah inti shunt magnet dipasang kawat penghantar yang terhubung singkat (cooper band) yang disebut sebagai power factor compensator (PFC). Dengan mengatur posisi PFC maka flusi shunt magnet dapat dibuat tertinggal terhadap tegangan sumber sebesar 90<sup>o<\/sup>.
