Pengukuran tahanan secara langsung dilakukan dengan menggunakan ohmmeter. Pada hakekatnya ohmmeter digunakan untuk memeriksa nilai resistan listrik. Tetapi karena karakteristiknya yang khusus, maka ohmmeter dapat digunakan juga untuk memeriksa adanya elemen yang putus dalam suatu rangkaian listrik atau adanya hubungan elemen rangkaian dengan tanah (ground).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/image-16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/image_thumb-16.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"215\" height=\"245\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGambar 8.1 Pengukuran resistan dengan Multimeter<\/p>\n<p>Tenaga listrik harus dimatikan ketika akan mengukur nilai resistan pada suatu rangkaian listrik, kalau lupa mematikan daya listriknya, maka ohmmeter akan rusak. Suatu contoh multimeter atau universal meter yang digunakan untuk mengukur resistan diperlihatkan dalam Gambar 8.1 Meter universal tersebut dapat digunakan juga untuk mengukur tegangan listrik arus searah dan arus bolak-balik dan arus listrik searah skala kecil.<\/p>\n<p>Tahanan atau resistan yang akan diukur langsung dihubungkan ke kabel dari ohmmeter atau multimeter baik tipe analog ataupun digital. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar pengukuran dapat berlangsung dengan lebih akurat. Batas ukur dipilih dengan menempatkanselektor pemilih mode pada skala pengukuran tahanan.
