Berdasarkan konferensi umum mengenai berat dan ukuran ke-14 tahun 1971, dan hasil-hasil pertemuan sebelumnya, menetapkan tujuh besaran dasar. Ketujuh besaran ini ditunjukkan dalam Tabel 2.1 dan merupakan dasar bagi Sistem Satuan Internasional, biasanya disingkat SI dari bahasa Perancis \u201cLe Systeme International d\u2019Unites\u201d.<\/p>\n

Satuan Turunan<\/strong>
\nSatuan turunan adalah satuan yang diturunkan dari satuan pokok. Satuan dasar dapat dikombinasikan untuk mendapatkan satuan pengukuran besaran lainnya yang disebut satuan turunan . Sebagai tambahan ada dua dari satuan tanpa dimensi yaitu radian (rad) dan steradian (sr), 20 satuan turunan lainnya memiliki satuan nama yang khusus. Dalam beberapa hal, satuan besaran dasar dirasa kurang sesuai dengan kebutuhan, dikarenakan terlalu besar atau terlalu kecil, misalnya Kapasitor mempunyai satuan dasar adalah Farad, namun satuan tersebut terlalu besar , dan yang sering dipakai adalah dalam \u03bcF (micro Farad) atau nF (nano Farad) bahkan pF (piko Farad) , contoh lain adalah Resistor yang sering menggunakan satuan k\u03a9 bahkan hingga M\u03a9 (mega Ohm) sehingga diperlukan faktor pengali dari besaran satuan standar tersebut, dibawah ini adalah tabel 2.3 yang memberikan informasi masalah pengali tersebut<\/p>\n
