Sifat suatu resistor akan melawan arah arus seperti yang telah dibuktikan didalam hukum Ohm, dimana besarnya nilai perlawanan (resistansi) dapat diasumsikan dan digolongkan sebagai komponen linier ideal. Tetapi dalam keadaan yang sebenarnya adalah tidak demikian, dimana nilai tersebut bervariasi terhadap material penghantar dan temperatur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resistor tetap<\/strong><br \/>\nKomponen resistor merupakan komponen yang paling banyak digunakan didalam rangkaian elektronik. Contoh aplikasi yang paling sering digunakan adalah dipakai sebagai pembagi tegangan atau arus. Berdasarkan ketentuan spefikasinya, macam dan jenis resistor tetap pada umumnya dibedakan berdasarkan konstruksi, jenis bahan, dan proses fabrikasinya. Jenis bahan resistor-resistor tersebut yang lazim berupa komposisi karbon, lapisan karbon, oksida karbon, selaput logam, lapisan logam, dan lilitan kawat.<\/p>\n<p>Seperti telah disebutkan, bahwa untuk penggunaan banyak aplikasi, resistor-resistor yang terbuat dari bahan logam, oksida logam, atau lapisan logam adalah jenis-resistor yang umum digunakan. Terutama karena jenis resistor ini dapat memberikan rentang resistansi yang cukup lebar (umumnya berkisar antara 10 \u2126 sampai 1M \u2126), mempunyai koefisien suhu yang rendah (diatas \u00b1 250 ppm\/\u00baC), dan mempunyai tingkat stabilitas yang sangat baik meskipun dalam keadaan disimpan (tidak beroperasi) maupun dalam keadaan beroperasi.<\/p>\n<p>Tabel 3.1. Urutan resistor menurut IEC<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/09\/image-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/09\/image_thumb-6.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"367\" height=\"343\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sedangkan untuk jenis komposisi karbon tidak begitu banyak dipergunakan karena jenis bahan resistor ini mempunyai faktor stabilitas yang sangat rendah, begitu juga dengan koefisien suhunya yang buruk (diperkirakan -1200 ppm\/\u00baC). Salah satu cara untuk mengetahui dan menandai besarnya nilai resistansi dari sebuah resistor adalah cukup dengan memberikan kode warna pada badannya. Untuk memudahkan didalam penggunaan, untuk itu perlu suatu pengelompokan ukuran dan urutan nilai resistansi dari resistor.
