Pada hubungan parallel, Gambar 1.91. menunjukan dua buah kapasitor yang dihubungkan parallel, atau kedua kapasitor yang terhubung paralel tersebut bisa diwakili dengan satu buah kapasitor sebagai elemen pengganti. Sebagaimana sifat pada hubungan parallel, bahwa secara keseluruhan kedua kapasitor mendapat tegangan pengisian yang sama besar dan dengan waktu yang sama pula.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan demikian besarnya muatan total QT pada rangkaian parallel dapat ditentukan seperti persamaan berikut:<br \/>\nQT = Q1 + Q2<br \/>\nkarena hubungan muatan adalah Q = C. V, maka setiap kapasitor dapat dimuati sebesar:<br \/>\nQ1 = C1. V; Q2 = C2.V; QT = CT.V<br \/>\ndengan demikian:<br \/>\nCT.V = C1. Dengan demikian menghubungkan kapasitor secara paralel pada prinsipnya adalah sama dengan memperbesar luas penampang (A= A1 + A2) dari kondensator-kondensator tersebut Untuk hubungan seri pada prinsipnya sama seperti hubungan parallel, Gambar 1.94. menunjukan dua buah kapasitor yang terhubung secara seri, atau kedua kapasitor yang dihubungkan demikian tersebut dapat juga diwakili dengan satu buah kapasitor sebagai elemen pengganti.<\/p>\n<p>Sebagaimana sifat pada hubungan seri, bahwa besarnya pembagi tegangan pengisian secara keseluruhan pada masing-masing kapasitor adalah: VT = V1 + V2 Karena pada hubungan seri pada seiap kapasitor mempunyai tegangan pengisian yang berbeda, dengan demikian besarnya muatan pada masing-masing kapasitor adalah sama (QT = Q1 = Q2 = Q). Kapasitas kondensator dinyatakan dengan satuan Farad dan tegangan kerja dinyatakan dengan Volt.
