Hasilnya, pada saat menempel pada ujung-ujung batang magnet, terasa tarikan yang kuat dibandingkan pada bagian tengah batang magnet.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/image-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/image_thumb-9.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"234\" height=\"139\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGambar 6.2 Percobaan identifikasi kutub magnet<\/p>\n<p>Pada bagian yang memiliki daya tarik besar dari sebuah batang magnet disebut dengan kutub (pole). Kekuatan magnet terbesar pada ujung magnet batang dan semakin ke tengah kekuatan magnet semakin melemah. Sedang pada tengah batang magnet tidak terdapat kekuatan magnet. Sebuah batang magnet digantungkan sedemikian rupa sehingga batang magnet terbut bisa berputar dengan titik putar pada tengah batang magnet (Gambar 6.3). Ternyata batang magnet akan berhenti pada posisi mata angin utara &#8211; selatan. Kutub batang magnet yang menunjuk kearah utara dinamakan kutub utara (U) dan yang lainnya dinamakan kutub selatan (S).<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/image-10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/image_thumb-10.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"223\" height=\"125\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGambar 6.3 Prinsip dasar kompas<\/p>\n<p>Pada penggunaannya, digunakan magnet jarum untuk membuat alat penunjuk arah yang dinamakan kompas.<br \/>\nMagnet batang diletakkan di atas dua buah roler, kemudian magnet batang lainnya kita dekatkan antar ujung (Gambar 1.102). Ternyata magnet batang dengan roler tertarik maju mendekat saat ujung yang berdekatan tidak senama. Ternyata sisi yang memiliki daya magnet kuat hanya pada ujung-ujungnya saja, sehingga kedua magnet menjadi seperti sebuah magnet.
