Insulation Tester is<\/i> usually used to measure values<\/span> <\/i> resistance \/ resistance ( resistance<\/i> ) of the insulation (wrapping) of the material used in the power cord.<\/span> Normatively a 1 Volt high voltage requires isolation that has a resistance value of 1000 Ohm (1k\u03a9).<\/span> Damage to the insulation will lead to leakage of electrical voltage that can endanger the human user.<\/span><\/p>\n

This tool is usually used in the transformer industry, installation of electrical grids, and electric motors.<\/span> However it can also be used to measure AC voltage (Alternating Current), and resistance \/ resistance ( resistance<\/i> ) on the television set.<\/span><\/p>\n

Controls and Indicators<\/b><\/span>
\n The controls and indicators of the Insulation Tester are shown in Figure 42 below.<\/span>

1. Output Jacks, M\u03a9.<\/span> Useful for checking the isolation, is there any electrical voltage leakage.<\/span> The red probes<\/i> cables are inserted into red jacks, black investigator cables ( probes<\/i> ) inserted into black jacks.<\/span>
\n 2. Input Jacks, ACV is used for measurement of AC voltage and resistance \/ resistance ( resistance<\/i> )<\/span>
\n 3. Scale boards<\/span>
\n 4. “ON” indicator<\/span>
\n 5. “ON M\u03a9”, select switch for resistance measurement \/ high resistance (high resistance).<\/span> “OFF (ACV)”, select switch for AC voltage, and “Battery (B) Chek” to check battery voltage.<\/span>
\n 6. Switch “M\u03a9 \/ ACV”.<\/span> Switch “M” for choice of isolation test mode (insulation test).<\/span> Measurement range switch “ACV” for AC voltage measurement mode.<\/span>
