Sistem pengisian (<i>charging sistem<\/i>) harus dapat memenuhi kebutuhan arus tersebut di bawah semua kondisi oprasi unit dan harus dapat mengisi dengan cepat baterai. Komponen utama dari sistem pengisian (charging sistem) adalah alternator dan pada kebanyakan unit alat berat modern\u00a0 dengan pengecualian jika hal itu terkait <i>wiring <\/i>adalah satu-satunya componen pada charging sistem. Gambar 1.1 menunjukkan alternator yang biasa dipakaip pada unit alat berat.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/clip_image0024.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"clip_image002[4]\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/clip_image0024_thumb.gif\" alt=\"clip_image002[4]\" width=\"235\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGambar 1.1 Alternator<\/p>\n<p>Pada dasarnya alternator adalah juga sebuah generator AC (arus bolak- balik) yaitu merupakan alat yang berfungsi untuk merubah energi mekanik yang dihasilkan engine menjadi energi listrik. Beberapa komponen elektrik sistem yang juga sebagai perubah energi adalah motor setarter dan baterai. Ketiganya merupakan komponen yang saling terkait dan bekerja sama mendukung kinerja engine. Motor setarter sebagai penggerak awal engine berfungsi merubah energi listrik menjadi energi gerak.<\/p>\n<p>Sebagai penggerak mula tentu saja motor starter membutuhkan cadangan energi listrik untuk dapat dirubah menjadi energi mekanik dan hal ini didapatkan dari baterai, yang berfungsi merubah energi listrik menjadi energi kimia (untuk disimpan) dan dirubah kembali menjadi energi listrik sebagai suplai arus listrik ke motor starter.
