Energi ini besarnya sama dengan kerja W yang harus dilakukan untuk mengumpulkan muatan-muatan tersebut dari masing-masing komponennya, yang pada mulanya dianggap berjarak tak hingga satu sama lain dan berada dalam keadaan diam. Marilah kita tinjau proses pengisian dan pengosongan pada kapasitor. Kerja harus dilakukan untuk memisahkan dua muatan yang sama besar dan berlawanan tandanya.<\/p>\n<p>Energi ini disimpan dalam sistem dan dapat diperoleh kembali jika muatan-muatan tersebut mendapat kesempatan lagi untuk berkumpul bersama. Dengan cara yang serupa, kapasitor yang dimuati telah menyimpan energi potensial yang sama besarnya dengan kerja yang diperlukan untuk memuati kapasitor tersbut. Energi ini bisa digunakan kembali jika kapasitor tersebut diberi kesempatan untuk mengosongkan muatannya.<\/p>\n<p>Biasanya kerja untuk memuati dilakukan oleh baterai atau akumulator, dengan memanfaatkan energi kimia dalam baterai tersebut. Misalkan pada waktu t sebuah muatan q\u2019(t) telah dipindahkan dari sebuah plat ke plat lain. Beda potensialnya menjadi U(t) = q\u2019(t)\/C. Jika suatu penambahan muatan ekstra dq\u2019 dipindahkan, maka sejumlah kecil kerja tambahan yang diperlukan adalah:<br \/>\n<strong>dW =Udq = (q\u2019\/C)dq\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jika proses ini diteruskan sampai muatan total q dipindahkan maka kerja totalnya adalah:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/10\/image.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/10\/image_thumb.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"147\" height=\"46\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dari persamaan q=CU, didapat:<br \/>\n<strong>W= U = \u00bd CU2<\/strong><br \/>\nDi dalam sebuah kapasitor plat sejajar, dengan mengabaikan pinggiran, medan listrik di antara plat-platnya bersifat uniform, yaitu mempunyai nilai sama di semua titik. Maka kerapatan energinya, yang juga harus uniform, dapat ditulis:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/10\/image4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/elektro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/10\/image_thumb2.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"113\" height=\"44\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dengan Ad adalah volume di antara plat-plat.
