Metoda arus mata jala (mesh) dan tegangan simpul yang dikemukakan oleh Kirchoff merupakan cara yang paling utama dari analisis rangkaian arus searah dengan elemen pasif resistor ( rangkaian resistif ). Tetapi, dengan menghitung resistansi ekivalen dari cabang-cabang seri dan parallel yang digabungkan dengan aturan-aturan pembagi tegangan pada rangkaian seri dan pembagian arus pad rangkaian parallel dapat memberikan cara lain guna menganalisis suatu rangkaian.<\/p>\n

Namun cara ini tentu saja akan sangat membosankan karena biasanya memerlukan penggambaran melalui beberapa rangkaian tambahan. Apa lagi lagi bila rangkaiannya mempunyai banyak cabang elemen. Meskipun demikian, proses reduksi rangkaian ini akan memberikan suatu gambaran yang jelas dari fungsi keseluruhan rangkaian mengenai tegangan, arus dan daya yang didisipasikan pada setiap elemen rangkaian.<\/p>\n

\nHitung resistan ekivalen dari rangkaian resistif berikut ini dan daya total yang disalurkan oleh sumber 60 V dan daya yang diserap oleh masing-masing resistor yang ada di dalam jaringan.
