Mechanical Bearings

Bearing or Bearing is a component which serves to reduce friction in the machine or components that move and press against each other with each other. If the movement of two interconnected surfaces is inhibited, it will generate heat. These obstacles are known as friction (friction).

Constant friction heat will cause an ever increasing and causing wear on these components. Uncontrolled friction can cause damage to the components and tools can not work. Bearing used for holding / supporting components move. Bearings are usually used to support the rotation of the shaft, where there is very much friction, so the rotation or the movement back and behind it can take place in a smooth, safe and long life.

Bearings should be sturdy enough to allow the shaft as well as other machine elements work well. If the pads are not functioning properly then the achievements of the entire system will decrease or be unable to work properly. Thus the function of bearing: 

  • Reducing friction, heat and wear.
  • Load bearing shaft and machine.
  • Withstand radial load and thrust load.
  • Keeping tolerance firmness.
  • Enables easy replacement and reduce operational costs.

Based on the direction of the load against the shaft

  • Radial bearings perpendicular
Ditumpu load direction perpendicular to the axis of the shaft.
  • Parallel radial bearings
Bearing load direction parallel to the axis of the shaft.
  • Special rolling bearings
These pads rivet load direction parallel and perpendicular to the axis of the shaft.

In the selection of bearing a lot of things to consider such as:

  • Type of loading received by bearings (axial or radial)
  • The maximum load that can be accepted by bearings
  • Compatibility between the dimension of the shaft with the bearing at the same time with the whole system has been planned.
  • The accuracy at high speeds
