Poros luwes untuk transmisi daya kecil agar terdapat kebebasan bagi perubahan arah. Untuk merencanakan sebuah poros, hal \u2013 hal berikut ini perlu diperhatikan<br \/>\n<strong>a. Kekuatan Poros Menahan Beban Diatas<\/strong><br \/>\nSuatu poros transmisi dapat mengalami beban puntir atau lentur atau gabungan antara puntir dan lentur seperti telah diutarakan diatas. Juga ada poros yang mendapat beban tarik atau tekanan seperti poros baling \u2013 baling kapal atau turbin, dll. Kelelahan, tumbukan atau pengaruh konsentrasi tegangan bila diameter poros diperkecil (poros Bertangga) atau bila poros mempunyai alur pasak, harus diperhatikan. Sebuah poros harus direncakan hingga cukup kuat untuk menahan beban diatas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>b. Kekuatan Poros Disesuaikan Dengan Macam Mesin<\/strong><br \/>\nMeskipun sebuah poros mempunyai kekuatan yang cukup tetapi jika lenturan atau defleksi puntirnya terlalu besar akan mengakibatkan ketidak-telitian (pada mesin perkakas) atau getaran dan suara (misalnya pada turbin dan kotak roda gigi). Karena itu disamping kekuatan poros, kekuatannya juga harus diperhatikan dan disesuaikan dengan macam mesin yang akan dilayani poros tersebuut.<\/p>\n<p><strong>c. Putaran Kritis<\/strong><br \/>\nBila putaran suata mesin dinaikan maka pada suatu harga putaran tertentu dapat terjadi getaran yang luar biasa besarnya. Putaran ini disebur putaran kritis. Hal ini dapat terjaid pada turbin, motor torak, motor listrik, dll. Dan dapat mengakibatkan kerusakan pada poros dan bagian \u2013 bagian lainnya. Jika mungkin, poros harus direncanakan sedemikian rupa hingga putaran kerjanya lebih rendah dari putaran kritisnya.<\/p>\n<p><strong>d. Korosi<\/strong><br \/>\nBahan \u2013 bahan tahan korosi (termasauk plastik) harus dipilih poros propeler dan pompa bila terjadi kontak dengan fluida yang korosif. Demikian pula untuk poros yang terancam kavitas, dan poros\u2013poros mesin yang sering berhenti lama. Sampai batas \u2013 batas tertentu dapat pula dilakukan perlindungan terhadap korosi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>e. Bahan Poros<br \/>\n<\/strong>Poros untuk mesin umum biasanaya dibuat dari baja batang yang ditarik dingin dan defines, baja karbon konstruksi mesin (disebut bahan S-C) yang dihasilkan dari ingot yang di\u201dkill\u201d (baja yang dideoksidasikan dengan ferrosilicon dan dicor; kadar karbon terjamin) meskipun demikian, bahan ini kelurusannya agak kurang tetap dan dapat mengurangi deformasi karena tegangan yang kurang seimbang misalnya bila diberi alur pasak, karena ada tegangan sisa di dalam terasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Tetapi penarikan dingin membuat permukaan poros menjadi keras dankekuatannya bertambah besar. Harga \u2013 harga yang terdapat dalam table diperoleh dari batang percobbaan dengan diameter 25 mm ; dalam hal ini harus diingat bahwa untuk poros yang diameternya jauh lebih besar fdari 25 mm, harga \u2013 harga akan lebih rendah dari pada yang ada dalam tabel karena adanya pengaruh masa.<br \/>\nPoros \u2013 poros yang dipakai untuk meneruskan putaran tinggi dan beban berat umumnya dibuat dari baja paduan dengan pengerasn kulit yang sangat tahan terhadap keausan.<\/p>\n<p>Poros \u2013 poros yang bentuknya sulit seperti poros engkol, besi cor nodal atau coran lainnya telah dipakai. Tabel 3.2 Bahan Poros<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/industri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/image21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/industri\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/image_thumb23.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"484\" height=\"604\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beberapa diantaranya adalah baja khrom nikel, baja khrom nikel molibden, baja khrom, baja khrom molibden, dll. Sekalipun demikian pemakaian baja paduan khusus tidak dianjurkan jika alasannya hanya putaran tinggi dan beban berat. Dalam hal demikian perlu dipertimbangkan penggunaan baja karbon yang diberi perlakuan panas secara tepat untuk memperoleh kekuatan yang diperlukan.
