Yang dimaksud dengan efisiensi ialah perbandingan antara output dan input dan dinyatakan dalam persen ( % ). Terjadinya perbedaan antara output dan input dikarenakan adanya kerugian-kerugian diantaranya terjadinya kebocoran di dalam pompa sehingga akan mengurangi volume output. Secara keseluruhan, kebocran dapat terjadi pada pompa hidrolik, katup-katup, aktuator dan pada setiap konektor. Sehingga dalam hal ini perbandingan antara volume cairan hidrolik yang secara efisien menghasilkan daya di banding dengan penghasilan pompa teoritis disebut efisiensi volumetrik (\u019ev).<\/p>\n

Penghasilan pompa (misal:pompa roda gigi) secara teoritis dapat dihitung dengan rumus :

\nn = putaran pompa ( r.p.m )
\nV = volume caiaran yang dipindahkan tiap putaran ( cm3<\/sup> )<\/p>\n

Penghasilan pompa tergantung pada besar tekanan kerja sistem hidrolik. Semakin besar tekanan, penghasilan pompa (Q) akan semakin berkurang. Karakteristik pompa semacam ini dapat kita lihat pada gambar 13.

Apabila p = 0 , penghasilan pompa Q penuh ( Q teoritis)
\nApabila p > 0 , penghasilan pompa berkurang karena adanya kebocoran dan secara logika semakin tinggi tekanan akan semakin besar pula kebocoran.
\nContoh :
\nUntuk pompa yang baru , kebocoran 6 % pada p = 230 bar.
\nQ( p=0) = 10 l\/min.
\nQ(p=230) = 9,4 l\/min.
\nQL = 0,6 l\/min.
\nJadi efisiensi volumetrik ( \u019ev ) = 94 %<\/p>\n

Untuk pompa yang lama, kebocoran mencapai 13 % pada p = 230 bar
\nQ(p=0) = 10 l\/min.
\nQ(p=230) = 8,7 l\/min.
\nQL = 1,3 l\/min.
\nJadi efisiensi volumetrik ( \u019ev) = 87 %<\/p>\n
