a. Momen<\/strong>
\nDalam keteknikan banyak alat alat yang dapat digunakan untuk meringankan atau membantu pekerjaan , misalnya membuka mur atau baut, untuk membuka mur atau baut yaitu dengan cara memutarkannya dan bagai mana jika memutarkan mur atau baut dilakukan dengan tangan kosong ? Berat bukan ! Supaya mudah untuk membuka mur atau baut tersebut maka digunakan kunci. Gaya yang diberikan pada kunci dengan tangkai pendek dan tangkai panjang saat membuka baut yang sama akan terasa berbeda.<\/p>\n

Ringan dan beratnya saat membuka mur dan baut tersebut tergantung pada panjang dan pendeknya tangkai kunci , semakin panjang tangkai kunci yang digunakan maka membuka baut akan terasa semakin ringan, hal tersebut dikerenakan momen. Alat alat keteknikan yang memanfaatkan momen antara lain: tuas , batang pemutar, engkol, dongkrak, puli \/ katrol, pedal rem dan alat alat lainnya.<\/p>\n

Momen adalah hasil kali gaya dengan jarak dari gaya terhadap titik tersebut. Jika Gaya diberi simbol F dan jarak dari gaya terhadap titik adalah L , maka momen dapat ditulis :<\/p>\n

Untuk membedakan arah momen, macam macam momen terdiri atas:
\n1) Momen positif<\/strong>
\nMomen positif yaitu momen yang mempunyai arah kekanan atau searah dengan arah jarum jam .
\n2) Momen negatif<\/strong>
\nMomen negatif yaitu momen yang mempunyai arah berlawanan dengan arah jarum jam .

b. Kopel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kopel yaitu dua buah gaya yang sama besar, sejajar dan berlawanan arah dengan titik tangkap yang berlainan. Jika kedua gaya masing masing adalah F dengan jarak L , maka besarnya kopel yaitu:
