Arus listrik sebesar 1 miliamper membuat sensasi terhadap seseorang, arus sebesar 20 miliamper memungkinkanseseorang tidak dapat bergerak, arus sebesar 100 miliamper menyebakan terjadinya ventricuar fibrillation (jantung berdebar keras), dan arus lebih besar atau sama dengan 200 miliamper dapat menyebabkan tubuh terbakar dan respiratory paralysis (kehilangan cairan tubuh).<\/p>\n<p>Risiko bahaya lainnya yang dapat diakibatkan oleh sengatan arus listrik terhadap manusia adalah reaksi tubuh ketika mengalami sengatan arus listrik. Sebagai contoh, bila seseorang personil pemeliharaan sedang bekerja menggunakan tangga dan tiba-tiba tanpa sengaja tersengat arus listrik, maka ia dapat terjatuh dari tangga. Bila ia sedang bekerja dengan peralatan tangan bermesin (power tool) dan tanpa disengaja mendapat sengatan arus listrik, ia terkejut dan melepaskan alat tangan tersebut dan mungkin dapat mencederai personil lain yang ada di sekitarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Para teknisi\/mekanik harus menyadari sungguh-sungguh, bahwa reaksinya ketika mendapat sengatan listrik dapat membahayakan personil lain yang berada di sekitarnya. Bila memungkinkan hindari penggunaan tangga aluminium jika bekerja dengan sumber listrik. Besaran kuat arus yang dapat mengalir melewati tubuh manusia tergantung pada nilai resistansi tubuh dan tegangan sentuh yang yang dialami oleh tubuh. Kuat arus yang mengalir ke tubuh dapat dihitung dengan formula sebagai berikut:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/mesin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/09\/image22.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/mesin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/09\/image_thumb22.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"187\" height=\"43\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dimana :<br \/>\nKuat arus listrik diukur dalam satuan ampere,<br \/>\nTegangan listrik dalam satuan volt, dan<br \/>\nresistansi tubuh manusia diukur dalam satuan ohm (\u2126).<\/p>\n<p>Dalam banyak kasus, besaran kuat arus dan lamanya tubuh menerima arus listrik menjadi kriteria untuk menetapkan dampak buruk dari sengatan arus listrik. Arus listrik sebesar 10 miliamper mengalir beberapa detik mungkin dapat mengakibatkan ambang kejang, dan nyeri pada otot.
