RTD dibuat dari bahan kawat tahan korosi, kawat tersebut dililitkan pada bahan keramik isolator. Bahan kawat untuk RTD tersebut antara lain; platina, emas, perak, nikel dan tembaga, dan yang terbaik adalah bahan platina karena dapat digunakan menyensor suhu sampai 1500<sup>o<\/sup> C. Hollow Annulus LH2 RTD<br \/>\nD. 1\/8&#8243; Diameter LN2 RTD<\/p>\n<p>Dalam penggunaannya, RTD (PT100) juga memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan.<br \/>\n<strong>Kelebihan dari RTD (PT100) :<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Ketelitiannya lebih tinggi dari pada termokopel.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Tahan terhadap temperatur yang tinggi.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Stabil pada temperatur yang tinggi, karena jenis logam platina lebih stabil dari pada jenis logam yang lainnya.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Kemampuannya tidak akan terganggu pada kisaran suhu yang luas.<br \/>\n<strong>Kekurangan dari RTD (PT100) :<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Lebih mahal dari pada termokopel.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Terpengaruh terhadap goncangan dan getaran.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Respon waktu awal yang sedikit lama (0,5 s\/d 5 detik, tergantung kondisi penggu naannya).<br \/>\n\uf0b7 &#8211; Jangkauan suhunya lebih rendah dari pada termokopel. Elemen yang umum digunakan pada tahanan resistansi adalah kawat nikel, tembaga, dan platina murni yang dipasang dalam sebuah tabung guna untuk memproteksi terhadap kerusakan mekanis.
