Desktop operating system has the following characteristics:<\/span>

\n Currently on the market, the desktop operating system most widely used is divided into three major groups, namely Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, and UNIX \/ Linux.<\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft Windows<\/strong><\/span>
\n Is a proprietary desktop operating system developed by Microsoft company with its founder Bill Gates.<\/span> The first version of this operating system is Windows 1:01 released in 1985. Windows 8.1 is the latest product of Microsoft operating system, released October 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apple Mac Os<\/strong><\/span>
\n Apple Mac Os with Microsoft Windows is a proprietary operating system developed by Apple.<\/span> This system didesin as an operating system that is friendly to the user (user-friendly).<\/span> The latest version of this system is the development of the UNIX operating system.<\/span><\/p>\n

UNIX \/ Linux<\/strong><\/span>
\n UNIX, introduced late 1960s, is one of the oldest operating systems.<\/span> The program code of the operating system is unlocked so it can be adopted by various companies.<\/span> UNIX is now a lot of this is born a new operating system is a derivative.<\/span> Linux is a UNIX derivative operating system that is equally open source code to the public.<\/span> Linux was first developed by Linus Torvalds and version 0.0.1 was released in 1991.<\/span><\/p>\n

Debian is a Linux distribution developed by the Debian community.<\/span> Debian 7 Wheezy, is the latest version of the Linux operating system is.<\/span> Besides debian still many other Linux distributions such as Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, and Slackware.<\/span> Android as a mobile operating system also includes a derivative of the Linux operating system.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kakrakteristik network operating system has the following:<\/span>
\n – Supports the use by more than one user<\/span>
\n – Run an application that is capable of being used by more than one user<\/span>
\n – Stable (robust), where there is little possibility for error in the program.<\/span> Robustness is a term to indicate the ability of a computer system to handle problems that occur during use by the user.<\/span>
\n – Has a data security level higher than the desktop operating system.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following is a network operating system that is widely used today.<\/span>
\n – UNIX \/ Linux, this is an operating system that is most widely used as a server at this time, an example of a network with Linux operating systems include Red Hat, Caldera, SuSE, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu and Slackware.<\/span>
\n – Novell Netware, in the 1980s, this is the first operating system that meets all the requirements to establish a local computer network.<\/span>
\n – Microsoft Windows, is still of the same company, Microsoft also released Windows Server operating system as its network, starting from the first version is Windows Server 2000, until the last Windows Server 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n
