Untuk mendapatkan hasil pencucian yang lebih maksimal, pada perlakuan ini dapat dibantu dengan menyikat atau menggosok secara hati-hati agar bahan tidak tergores. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada air yang mengalir. Pinsip kerja pencucian dengan metode perendaman juga dapat dikombinasikan dengan putaran, hal ini sama dengan mesin pencuci pakaian.<\/p>\n<p>Metode ini banyak dilakukan pada komoditas umbi-umbian yang relatif tahan terhadap kerusakan mekanis. Kombinai proses pencucian dan perendaman<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Penyemprotan<\/strong><br \/>\nHasil pencucian dengan penyemprotan akan lebih baik karena kotoran lebih mudah lepas. Keunggulan dengan metoda ini adalah: waktu lebih singkat, tenaga kerja sedikit, terhindar dari kontaminasi bekas air cucian, dan kapasitasnya bisa lebih besar. Sedangkan kelemahannya adalah banyak menggunakan air sehingga biaya operasional menjadi lebih mahal. Proses pencucian umbi-umbian dengan metode penyemprotan<\/p>\n<p>Kegiatan pembersihan dan pencucian bahan hasil pertanian mengakibatkan bahan yang dicuci menjadi basah. Hal ini bila dibiarkan dalam waktu lama akan mengakibatkan tumbuhnya mikroorganisme pembusuk, sehingga bahan akan menjadi rusak. Oleh karena itu setelah dilakukan pencucian diperlukan pengeringan dengan cara meniriskan bahan pada tempat tertentu dan wadah tertentu hingga air benar-benar menetes dan kering.
