Commodities agricultural and fishery products have an important role in human life as an individual or a society and a nation.<\/span> There is a saying Control oil and you control the nation, control food and you control the people, by controlling oil means we can control the state and by controlling the food we could control the public.<\/span> Therefore, the government and society will continue to pursue food security and sovereignty.<\/span><\/p>\n

The role of agriculture and fisheries commodities are meeting basic human needs, especially as a source of nutrition that will affect the quality of the human resources community and the nation, as well as of significant importance with regard to the status of food security in Indonesia.<\/span> For the current food security rely on the availability of rice for the community.<\/span> However, other commodities can actually support the tough conditions katahanan food in Indonesia, so that cases of food shortages that plagued many specific areas in Indonesia can be avoided.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corn and tubers group, for example, can be used as an alternative to food staples.<\/span> The use of non-rice commodities as a staple food, is already long enough become a tradition for public consumption in certain areas in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corn, for example, is already quite long commodities consumed as staple food for Madura and the surrounding community.<\/span> Likewise, the people of Gorontalo vigorous movement maize consumption is a mainstay commodities in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vegetables and fruit commodity group was instrumental in providing sources of vitamins and dietary fiber for human fulfillment.<\/span> Vitamins are very important in maintaining the health of the body’s stamina and vitality, while crude fiber, very useful for digestion.<\/span> Some vegetable commodities was also a mainstay source of foreign exchange, related to the value of commodity exports.<\/span>
\n Given commodity agricultural and fishery products have particular significance, the activities in the framework of the provision of these commodities are appropriately addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Such activities ranging from cultivation, harvest, post-harvest handling, distribution, storage, processing until the product is ready for consumption.<\/span> Pretreatment such as cleaning, pengeprisan, trimming, skining and others is part of the post-harvest handling aims to maintain and keep good condition and fit to be immediately consumed or as raw material for processing other than that these activities can also prevent and reduce or suppress loss (losses) both quantity and quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Sorting is done to separate the good harvests of commodities ugly and damaged, dirt and foreign objects.<\/span> Grading is done to group products into quality class \/ grade according to criteria of quality class \/ grade of each commodity or product.<\/span> The objective of the sorting and grading is<\/span>
\n a) Obtain better quality and uniform (both raw materials and the final product)<\/span>
\n b) Provide standardization and improvements in the processing method<\/span>
\n c) Offering some quality to consumers at a price corresponding to its quality or giving a higher price Untik higher quality.<\/span>
\n d) Separating the fishery according to the type, size and degree of freshness.<\/span>
