{"id":1904,"date":"2024-08-05T04:27:08","date_gmt":"2024-08-04T21:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/?p=1904"},"modified":"2024-07-31T13:44:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T06:44:52","slug":"understanding-irrigation-pumps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/understanding-irrigation-pumps\/","title":{"rendered":"Understanding Irrigation Pumps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"notranslate\">The pump is a type of machine that serves to move the substance flow (fluid) including piped water from one place to another by providing mechanical energy to the pump which is then converted into mechanical energy.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> Pump specifications stated with the amount of fluid that can flow per unit of time and the high-energy lift.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> In these functions the pump converts the energy of motion shaft to drive the blade into mechanical energy and pressure on the fluid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"> In general, the pump used to raise water from a source of water such as rivers, reservoirs, ponds, wells to agricultural land where cultivation activity undertaken.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> To be able to supply water, then in the implementation of irrigation, the use of the pump can be done singly, series, and peralel which kesemuannya depending on the needs and existing equipment.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> To plan the installation of the pump, must be known in advance the characteristics of the pump to be used to obtain optimum results.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"> <strong>Characteristic of Irrigation Pumps<\/strong><\/span> <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong> <span class=\"notranslate\"> Before you know about the pump and its characteristics, it is good to remember back on the international system of units (International Metric System) and the terms commonly used in perpompaaan problem.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> The basic unit in the international system SI are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">Table 13. Unit of the international system<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image_thumb-1.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"387\" height=\"108\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"> Some important terminology is often used in a pump that needs to be understood is:<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"notranslate\"> <strong>Pressure<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"notranslate\"> Pressure is a term often used in the field of hydraulics or inundated depicting the force exerted by water on the particular area of \u200b\u200bthe field of an object immersed in water.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> The pressure is generally expressed in kilo Newton per square meter (kN \/ m2).<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> As another alternative often used the unit &#8220;bar&#8221; where 1 bar is equivalent to 100 kN \/ m2.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> Pressure is expressed by the following equation:<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image_thumb-2.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"182\" height=\"46\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"> For example, an irrigation pump works with a pressure of 300 kN \/ m2, this means that every area of \u200b\u200b1 m2 on pipes and pumps have uniform force of 300 kN who worked for him.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> In addition to a dank bar unit N \/ m2, some units are often used in the field of pump is kilograms force per square centimeter (kgf \/ cm2) or pounds-force per square inch or psi (lbf \/ in2).<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> Conversion of these units are:<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image_thumb-3.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"331\" height=\"27\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">The water pressure in the pipe can be measured with Bourdon Gage (Figure 9.2).<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> Within these tools is a tube-shaped arch which will be stretched when pressurized.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> This tube is connected with the scale pointer so that the amount of pressure can be read.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> If the gauge Bourdon was replaced with a vertical tube, the water in the tube will rise to a certain height in accordance with the amount of pressure.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"> If the pressure is 1 bar, the water will rise by about 10 meters.<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"notranslate\"> <strong>Head pressure (m) = 0.1 x pressure (kN \/ m2) = 10 x pressure (bar)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tneutron.net\/sipil\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/12\/image_thumb-4.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"175\" height=\"244\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span class=\"notranslate\"> Figure 42.
