Health Promotion

Health promotion formerly known as health education, is an approach to improve the willingness and ability of people to maintain and improve health. Given the ultimate goal of health promotion is not just the people need to live a healthy life, but also able to live healthy, health promotion is not just convey messages or information to keep the public health and healthy living behavior, but also how people are able to maintain and improve their health . Promotion of public health is important to support other health programs.

But in fact, this recognition is not supported by fact. This means that the health service programs not involve health education. Although it may have involved a program of health education but failed to give weight. Their argument is that health education was not immediately and clearly show the results. In other words, health education was not immediately bring benefits to the community and are easily seen or measured.

This is true because education is an investment behavioral   long-term. The results of a new health education investment can be seen a few years later. In a short time (immediate impact) health education only results in a change or an increase in the knowledge society. While the increase in knowledge alone is not going to directly influence the health indicators.

Health knowledge will affect the behavior as a result of the medium-term (intermediate impact) of health education. Furthermore, health behaviors will affect the increasing public health indicators as output (outcome) health education. This is in contrast with other health programs, especially programs that can provide direct treatment outcome (immediate impact) to decrease pain.

Involves five dimensions:
1. Policies
2. Environment
3. Power kes
4. PSM
5. Individual
