Tools Gaskets

The gasket is one of many types of seals used on a small slit on the stationary component. Some places use a gasket or cylinder head gasket, for example between and block, between the block and the oil pan. Wearing gasket surface must be flat, clean, dry and no scratches. Firmness fastening two surfaces using the gasket is very important, always based on torque specifications to prevent leakage.

Also known as the gasket gasket is the material used for the sealing room containing a liquid or gas. Perapatannya nature divided into two types, namely;

  • Static seals, sealing parts are not moving against one another, such as ga with lid gasket cylinder head, crankcase, and others.
  • Dynamic seals, sealing bagianlah is the part that move against each other. This dynamic sealing can be divided into two groups, namely sealing parts that move back and forth against each other and sealing the rotating parts against each other.

a. Not a metallic gasket materials.
1. Apparatus static seal.

  • Paper and cardboard, materials made of a mixture of fibers coupled with adhesives and fillers. As the fiber is used as wood fiber, fiber old rags, straw fiber and fiber old paper.
  • Fiber, the material consists of layers of paper impregnated (saturated) with artificial resin, fiber is usually used as a gasket plate.
  • Cork, this material comes from the bark of the cork tree. This cork tied up in the form of plates and used as a gasket plate.

2. Tool dynamic seals
Cotton and hemp, these materials are derived from plants, such as kenaf yarn, cotton and jute impregnated with lubricants specially selected and woven into a square gasket to be used as a gasket stopper tube.

b. Half-metallic gasket materials.
Static sealing tool

  • Rubber with copper gauze, available in the form of pallets.
  • Asbestos with copper gauze, Gasket consists of asbestos cloth woven with copper. The whole is impregnated with a heat-resistant mass and then given graphite on one side or both sides
  • Asbestos with steel gauze, on both sides of the steel mesh is woven tightly and strong affixed with a thin layer of high pressure.

c. Metallic gasket materials

  • Tools dynamic seal made of white metal that is used as a gasket discordant tubes in various forms.
