Running Methods and Tap Oil Sampling
A. Running / All-Level Sampling
Application:
Running and All-level sampling may be used for sampling fluids which have RPV 101 kPa (14.7 psia) in a tank truck, shore tanks, ship tanks. Running and All-level representative sampling is not necessary because of the volume of the tank is not proportional to its depth and because the operator can not raise the sampling tool needs charging speed proportionally.
Equipment
Bottle or beaker appropriate sampling as shown in Figure 4, is equipped with a lid with a diameter of 2 cm (¾ in).
Procedure:
– Assure that the sampling bottle and sample container is clean and dry.
– Attach the ballast on the bottle or jar to pair the sampling basket (cage)
– At a uniform speed, lower sampling bottle series to the limit of the base or the outlet of the tank, and without a doubt raise so bottles filled approximately ¾ of the moment out of the liquid.
– Fit the lid tightly, label with a clear and immediately send it to the lab.
B. Tap Sampling
Application:
Tap Sampling procedures used for sampling a liquid which has a RVP 101 kPa (14.7 psia) or lower in a tank equipped with appropriate valves.
This procedure is also intended for the volatile liquid in the tank is equipped with air vents and roof type-balloons, spheroid and so on. (Examples can also be taken from a tap on the glass probe, gage glass, if the tank is not equipped with Tap Sampling.)
Equipment:
– Equipment Tap Sampling more marked on the picture
– Each faucet should diameter 1:25 cm (1/2 inch)
– Kran diameter of 2.0 cm (3/4 inch) destined for fluid samples with high viscosity (oil with a density of 0.9465 or 18 ºAPI or less)
– In the tank with a lid that does not float valves each sample should be extended until the entry into the tank at least 10 cm. Usually the sample include minor plumbing faucet can fill a sample bottle from the bottom / bottom of the bottle.
– For tank outlet channel as well, in order to get a clean sample, the tap is placed 2 cm (4 inch) below the bottom of the outlet channel connection.
– Clean and dry the bottle, and the appropriate size to accommodate the desired sample.
Work principle :
– Check the cleanliness of the sample container / glass cylinder. Clean with a suitable solvent, rinse with a liquid sample.
– Check the liquid level in the tank sample
– If the sample has RVP 101 kPa (or less), connect the pipes connecting directly with tap
– Rinse the pipe connector and sample bottles to clean
– Collect the sample in a container / glass cylinder accordingly. If the sample is obtained from a different faucet using a cylinder-scale to estimate the number of instances that have been taken, otherwise if from a faucet, the example should not be moved
– If using a pipe pemnyambung, make sure the tip of the tube is below the surface of the sample in the sample container during filling examples
– If the sample has been collected in a container (glass cylinder) keep the example. Close the sample container tightly and label.
– Remove the connecting pipe and clean, so it is ready for reuse.
– Send the sample to the laboratory untul analyzed.
