Sampling Procedures Manual Oil Pipeline

1. Bottle Sampling:
– This procedure can be used for the sampling of fuel with RVP 105 kPa (16 psia) or less in tank cars, storage tanks, tank ships and barges
– System equipment is recommended as shown in Figure 3, it is recommended the bottle cap diameter 19 mm (3/4 in)
– Procedure:

a. All-levels sample:
Lower the cap bottles and berpemberat (figure 3) as close as possible to draw-off level, then open the lid and raise the bottle with a speed such that when the liquid has fully emerged from 70-85% capacity bottles.
b. Running Sample:
Lower bottle berpemberat at a steady pace until as close as possible to the bottom of sambunganoutlet and immediately pull up the bottle so that upon exiting the fluid has filled 70-80% capacity bottles. Note: Running or all-level sample need not representative because the volume of the tank is not proportional to the depth and because the operator can not raise the bottle with the speed as required.

c. Upper sample, middle sample, and lower sample
Lower the cap bottles and berpemberat arrive at the appropriate depth. At the chosen limit, open the lid and leave until completely filled bottles marked had no visible air bubbles When it has fully pull up, pour a small amount (15-30% of the bottle) and then immediately closed
d. Top sample
Get this sample (Figure 2) in the same way as the upper sample but at 150 mm (6 in) below the top surface of the tank contents
e. Handling
– Sample bottle after closing labeled and sent to a laboratory in the original sampling bottle.
– Sample immediately cooled.

2. Tap Sampling
Tap sampling procedure can be used for sampling liquid with VP 105 kPa (16 psia) or lower in a tank equipped with a sampling tap or line. This procedure is recommended for volatiles present in baloon-roof tank types, breather, spheroids, flootingroof tanks and others. Installation of the sampling tap as in Figure 4

Equipment:
– Tank tap, installed at least 3 pieces at a level that varies with standard pipe and valve ΒΌ in the match.

– Tube, the delivery tube is used to prevent product contamination when sampling, with a length corresponding to touch the bottom of the container instance.
– Tube chiller assembling, when sampling is used, the cooling in the form of coil tubing is inserted in the ice-bath to cool the fuel to be supplied to the sample container
– Containers example, used glass bottles are clean and dry with the appropriate size, or it can also be a container of metal
Procedure:
– Before the sample is passed, rinse the sample tap and tube approximately three times.
– Sampling for RVP, the containers must be cooled to a temperature equal to the temperature of the material in the tank, or to 0 0 C (32 0 F)
– Fill and empty the sample container three times
– Stream upper, middle, and lower samples directly from each tap after flushing
– Cover and label it as soon as possible and send it to the lab.
