Basic Mechanics Moment

Moment is the magnitude of the tendency of a force to rotate an object / objects to a point. In the form of a scalar, the magnitude of the moment is the force multiplied by the moment arm is the perpendicular distance between the point of being reviewed and working line style. The following figure illustrates a moment.

Figure 2.5 Illustration of the moment

So the magnitude of the moment depends on two factors, namely the moment arm and the forces acting. If the forces acting fixed amount, then the amount of torque is proportional to moment arm. Arm big moment, the moment that is produced is also large and vice versa. So it is clear here that the statics we study the analysis of the forces, both forces work and internal forces.

To cultivate the engineering field in general and in the field of civil engineering in particular require a strong background in the field of mechanics and mathematical physics. It is also necessary creativity so high that solve problems and also generate innovations and / discovery useful.
