Soil Biological Function

Biological soil serves as a habitat for organisms that participate actively in the provision of nutrient and growth boosters substances (additives) for plants, which are integrated capable of sustaining the productivity of the land to produce biomass and production of food crops, medicines, industrial estates, forestry and so on other. As a growing medium, the soil has four main functions, namely;

1. The growth and development of plant roots that have two main roles, which advocates the establishment of the plant stem and absorbent substances or nutrients that are needed.

2. Provider of plant life needs to carry out metabolic activities-me, both for growth and for production which includes water, air and nutrients.

3. Providers secondary needs of plants that serve to support its activities in order to grow optimum include additive substances produced by the organism, especially as soil microflora;  substances hyper growth (hormones, vitamins and organic acids particular).  antibiotics and toxins that serves as a disinfectant and – diseases of plants in the ground.  compounds or enzymes that function in the supply of primary elements or transformation of toxic substances such as pesticides and waste.

4. Habitat soil living things, both of which have a positive impact because it involved directly or indirectly in the provision of primary and secondary needs, as well as the negative impact due to the pests and plant diseases.

Although lately the technology has developed, including plant cultivation technology, such as the use of crops hydroponically, which with this system as a medium of growth, the plants do not need soil, but a solution of nutrients, and that the plant upright assisted with crutches. But this method is very expensive and requires knowledge or things that are complicated, and there are still many weaknesses.

Often we interpret soil (soil) and land (land) as the same thing. However, basically they are different. If we are talking about the land, then that will be discussed are the building blocks of soil, soil properties, either physical, chemical and biological. A discussion of land will lead us to the understanding of a part of the earth’s surface that are diverse from one place to another.

As with the definition of land that is more comprehensive because it involves a variety of factors including the land. If we are talking about the land will be directing us to something concerning the place, which means going to talk about the climate, vegetation, organisms including humans and applied aspects of land management. Furthermore, soil can be interpreted as a natural body consisting of minerals, organic matter, air and water are formed from weathering of the parent material that influenced the activity of living organisms in particular topography and climate within a period long enough.

How does the function of land or land? The following description of the soil functions. Soil serves as the growth and development of plants. Plant roots anchored in the ground so that it can stand up and grow well. Land is able to provide water and various nutrients both macro and micro. In addition, the land is also able to supply oxygen (O2) for plant growth through soil aeration system.

Land as a place to prop up the establishment of the plant, the roots of the plants should be grown in the soil in order to ensure the establishment of the plant. If the condition of the soil drainage is blocked, only the roots develop in the top layer of the aerasinya good. With shallow roots, the plants will easily fall. Soil also serves as a place to live living organisms, including micro and macro organisms land. Moreover, it also serves as a lively variety of vegetation that live on it.
