Bottom Oil Sampling Method

Bottom sampling can be carried out with 3 ways: Core Thief Bottom Sampling, Core Bottom Closed Tube Sampling Sampling and Extended.
 Core Thief Bottom Sampling
Application:
Sampling Take for example the bottom / base or take the example of a semi liqiud in tank cars and storage tanks. This tool is also used to take samples at different levels, nice to sample the bottom of the oil and water that is not drawn on the bottom of the tank, and to obtain a quantitative estimate of the water at the bottom of the tank.

Equipment:

This instrument is designed to acquire / take samples at 2 to 2.5 cm (3 / 4-1 inch) from the bottom of the tank cars and storage tanks.

Work principle :
– Tool lowered into the tank with the valve open position (in order to clean hydrocarbon sample container), to touch the bottom of the tank
– Let the appliance is filled with sample, then lift as high as 5 to 10 cm. Then lower to touch the bottom of the tank so that the valve is closed
– Lift the tool from the tank and move the contents into a container labeled sample.
– Send the sample to a laboratory

 Close Bottom Core Sampling
Application:
Close Bottom Core Sampling can be used to obtain a sample from the tank bottom and tank cars piled. In the sampling of Crude Oil in tanks piled-making tool can be used to obtain bottom samples were not traded in the form of oil (nonmerchantable) and water at the base of the tank.

Equipment:

Tool design decision made in such a way so as to obtain a sample within 1.25 cm (1/2 in) from the bottom of the tank (see figure 6). This type of device has a valve stem that opens automatically when it touches the bottom of the tank. Sample will be entered into the container through the bottom valve and the air will come out through the top valve and the valve will be closed when the tool is lifted upward makers.

Work principle :
– Lower the sampling clean and dry through the lid or the tank hole until it touches the bottom of the tank
– After a full, lift and move the contents into the sample container
– Shut and the air-label and immediately sent to the laboratory

 Extended Tube Sampling
Application: This method is used to sample the water at the bottom of the storage tank, especially on tank ships and barges, but they are not devoted to certain things use the usual way. Equipment: The shape of a set of tools with extended-sampling tube is as shown in the picture below

Extended-tube is made of a flexible pipe, which is connected to a suction pump, which works manually. Unjung to support the pipe and to be able to determine the point of sampling, the weighted pipeline tied to the end of the wire or ribbon such that between the pipe and the buffer is approximately ½ inch above the end of the ballast. Pipes and wires must be long enough, to be stretched to the bottom of storage tanks or vessels of various samples taken.

For example the placement of required bottles that had been cleaned and dried, or container suitable for the purposes of each sample. Work principle :
– Once the tool is installed, pipes and pumps should be free of water and closed, connect the grounding cable to the vessel or storage tank.
– Lower the weight to the end of the base, start sampling slowly, and the suction pump is continuously pumped. To minimize the possibility of contamination, rinse pipe with sample twice.
– Collect water samples directly into the bottle is dry and clean.
– If the sample is at the boundary of different inside the tank, remove ballast along the pipe at a level or another part. Rinse first the rest of the old sample. After each sample is taken and collected, immediately closed bottle and labeled, to prepare to be sent to the laboratory.
– Clean the tools and sampling completed.
