Supporting Structure Lift Systems

Supporting structure serves to support the drilling equipment and also provide adequate space for drilling operations. Supporting structure consists of a drilling tower (derrick or mast), substructure and rig floor.
a. Drilling tower or so-called drilling tower is divided into three types, namely:

– Conventional / standard derrick, the tower can not be established in a single unit, but its establishment spliced part by part. Widely used in drilling offshore wells. To move the derrick must be removed one by one part and then be reunited at their destination.
– Protable Skid Mast. The tower standing position of the parts welded to one another and discrup. This type can also be established by way detained by telescoping and reinforced by ropes moored spread. The tower is cheaper, easier and faster in its founding, cheap transportation, but its use is limited to drilling that is not too deep.
– Mobile or trailer mounted type mast. Mast types listed in standarter API 4D.

b. substructure is the construction of a steel frame as a platform mounted on the drill hole directly. Substructure provides workspace for workers and equipment under / over bor.Tinggi floor substructure is determined by the type of rig and BOP stack. Substructure able to withstand enormous loads, which comes from the derrick or mast, hoisting equipment, rotary table, drill string (drill pipe, drill collar etc.) And the weight of the casing.

c. Rig floor has the main function is to provide work for the drilling crew in performing drilling operations. On the rig floor are: Rotary table, hole Mouse, Rat hole, his key Key-tong, Slip, etc.
