Semi-conductor diodes used in electronics engineering in general is used to rectify the AC current into DC.Dioda formed by atoms of P and N atoms are combined into one, which will form the arrangement as shown below.

Semiconductor diode arrangement and Symbols
From the picture above is referred to as the anode P atoms and N atoms as the cathode. If the anode and cathode is charged positively given a negative charge, then the current will flow (lights on), otherwise if the anode and cathode are given a negative charge given a positive charge, the current does not flow. Direction of movement is named after the current flowing toward the forward movement or forward direction. Direction of movement without this current flow is named direction of motion on or revers direction.

DC current through the diode
The diodes can be used to rectify the AC current into direct current rectifier diodes DC.Ada are two kinds of half-wave rectifier and full-wave rectifier. In Figure below shows the half-wave rectifier circuit.

Half-wave rectifier circuit
When the switch S is closed in the secondary windings will be induced alternating voltage. At the time t1 to t2 A moderate positive voltage so that the end of the half period of this diode will pass current I. This current will pass RL prisoners, so that between the ends C and D occur voltage proportional to the magnitude of the current. At the time t2 – t3ujung A negative, the diode receiving revers voltage, the current will flow RL prisoners revers, this current of only a few mikroamper (), therefore negligible, so that the ends of the RL no voltage.
Full-wave rectifier circuit shown in the figure below.

Full-wave rectifier circuit
Full wave rectifier circuit with bridge system is the most widely used as a power source of aircraft electronics. This bridge rectifier system requires four diodes. The transformer used do not need to have a flashlight tap.
