Procedure Lock Out
Lock out circuit is a standard procedure that is used to disconnect the electrical power supply to the equipment is under maintenance or repair. When a technician / mechanic refrigeration / air system will work at an electrical equipment before working then he must first disconnect the power source that led to the equipment. And to prevent it from any other person reconnected mains power supply to the equipment being he handled the technician must lock (lock out) switch or breaker associated with the equipment and put up a warning sign (tag out) to prevent others from connecting back.
Lock out or tag out is a standard procedure in the prevention of occupational accidents. This procedure aims to protect personnel who are working on the carelessness of other personnel, for example, suddenly turn on the machine being repaired by other personnel. Besides, it also aims to prevent accidents on the use of unsafe equipment. Tag out, with regard to the process of locking the electric power source in off position via an alert that is presented in the form of hazard warning sign card. Hazard identification cards (Danger Tag) is usually hung on the equipment.
Danger hazard labels or tags, are labeled red, black and white mounted by persnil who are working on a tool to prevent the tool is not turned on.
Lock out is an act of accident prevention work done by locking the total distribution of electrical energy to the machine being repaired. The goal is to prevent lock out unauthorized person tries to turn or provide electrical energy to the machine that is being repaired. Lock out procedures must be carried out while doing the job of tracking disorders, repair, resetting, cleaning, and other maintenance work.
Lock out is usually done with the power panel door locked by using a special key that is not easily opened by any person (Figure 1:22).
When working in a situation where there are a lot of personnel who can connect or disconnect a switch or circuit breaker device to a device that is in the structure of electricity, before working make sure the electricity supply has been disconnected from the electrical circuit. In the industrialized world, this is commonly done using tags out that serves as a warning card, pad lock or locking devices, etc., as shown in Fig 1:21.
