Insulation Tester is usually used to measure values resistance / resistance ( resistance ) of the insulation (wrapping) of the material used in the power cord. Normatively a 1 Volt high voltage requires isolation that has a resistance value of 1000 Ohm (1kΩ). Damage to the insulation will lead to leakage of electrical voltage that can endanger the human user.
This tool is usually used in the transformer industry, installation of electrical grids, and electric motors. However it can also be used to measure AC voltage (Alternating Current), and resistance / resistance ( resistance ) on the television set.
Figure 41 shows one of the Insulation Tester in question.

Figure 42. Control and Indicator Insulation Tester
1. Output Jacks, MΩ. Useful for checking the isolation, is there any electrical voltage leakage. The red probes cables are inserted into red jacks, black investigator cables ( probes ) inserted into black jacks.
2. Input Jacks, ACV is used for measurement of AC voltage and resistance / resistance ( resistance )
3. Scale boards
4. “ON” indicator
5. “ON MΩ”, select switch for resistance measurement / high resistance (high resistance). “OFF (ACV)”, select switch for AC voltage, and “Battery (B) Chek” to check battery voltage.
6. Switch “MΩ / ACV”. Switch “M” for choice of isolation test mode (insulation test). Measurement range switch “ACV” for AC voltage measurement mode.
7. Needle position adjustment at mechanical zero (Mechanical Zero Adjust).
