Operation Methods Motor

The system operator of the motor performed at the start, running and Stop. The success of an operation of an electric motor is not only determined to “Running Performance” motor, but is also determined by the “Starting Performance”. Selection of starting method is much influenced by several factors such as the capacity of the motor / purposes of starting current, starting torque, speed, type of motor and various load driven by the motor.

Starting cage rotor induction motor can be done include:

  • Direct on line (DOL)
Starting with this method using a voltage meshes / full line directly connected to the motor terminals via rangkaia controller with mechanical or magnetic contactor relay.
  • Star Delta
Star was conducted in hubngan star and then the motor is operating normally in hungan delta. Control of the star to the delta can be done with a mechanical switch Y / Δ or relay / contactor magnet.
  • Starting Using Prisoners Primary (Primary Resistance)
Starting with this method is to menngunakan primary custody to reduce the incoming voltage to the motor.
  • Auto Transformer
Starting with this method is to connect the motor on auto transformer secondary taptegangan lowest and gradually increased until it reaches the nominal speed of the motor and the motor is connected directly to the full voltage / nominal voltage of the motor.
  • Motor Slip Ring / Rotor wrap.
For coiled rotor motors (Slip Ring) motor starting is done with the method of setting odds rotor (scondary Resistor). Motor operating normally on the rotor in relation stars.

Protection Requirements
Requirements of electrical installations in Indonesia are General Requirements Electrical Installation (PUIL) issued by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), which has been adapted by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Protection requirements of the installation on PUIL in Chapter 3. Requirements shock hazard protection covers, touch, directly or indirectly, grounding, thermal effects, overcurrent, and so forth.

With regard to the installation of electric motors, articles of importance is; Article 3.4.6 of the IP (International Protection), which protects the motor from solids and liquid. Where on the motor name plate IP listed.

Protection equipment
Protection equipment for the installation of the motor control include:

  • Short circuit
  • Overcurrent
  • Sambar Lightning
  • Overvoltage

In Table 3-1 will be shown the components of the motor control protection equipment installation. Where other than as a protection device also functions as a breaker switch.
