Components of a technical irrigation network can be distinguished by its function. To determine the components of an irrigation network can be viewed on a map overview. Overview map is a depiction of how various kinds of parts of an irrigation network are interconnected. The overview map can be viewed on a map layout. The map shows an overview of irrigation, among others:
Petak tertiary, secondary and primary
main buildings
Network and trace irrigation canal
Network and channel alignment waster
Plots primary, secondary and tertiary
The location of the building
The boundaries of irrigated area
Network and trace the road
areas that are not irrigated.
General overview map is based on a topographic map that comes with contour lines at a scale of 1: 25,000. Overview map detail which is called the map plots, are used for planning made with scale of 1: 5,000, and for tertiary 1: 5,000 or 1: 2,000.

Trace Measurement Channels
Alignment measurement channel typically includes a network of irrigation and drainage. Alignment measurement channel (measurement strip) would be as much as possible to follow the trace channel proposed in the preliminary layout. These measurements will cover a distance of 75 m from the axle channel. Channel alignment measurements include manufacture:
channel alignment map with a scale of 1: 2000 with contour lines at intervals of 0.5 m to 1.0 m and the flat area to land hilly hill; ,
elongated profile with a horizontal scale l: 2000 and the vertical scale 1: 200 (or) 1: 100 for tiny channels,
Cross section in horizontal and vertical scale of 1: 200 or 1: 100 for tiny channels at intervals of 50 m on straight sections and 25 m on the corner.
