Function Generator

Function Generator is an electronic measuring tool can generate waves in the form of sine, rectangular and other waveforms according to need. This tool can also generate a specific frequency according to need. In operation as an electronic measuring instrument (together with Oscilloscope ) becomes the main tool in the maintenance and repair of audio-video equipment. In this context the Function Generator can be set to generate a wave with a certain frequency, wave swing as needed, and frequency generator.

The following description contains the function of Function Generator as;
A. Function Generator Output
To get the desired output ( output ) waveform, steps can be done as follows:
1. Select the required wave type by turning the rotary switch on the FUNCTION control (see the description again about
FUNCTION SELECTOR on control and indicator).
2. Select the frequency range by turning the switch on the RANGE control.
Connect signal from main output ( Main Output ) to Channel- 1 Oscilloscope and signal from Sync Output to Channel- 2 Oscilloscope .
3. Set Trigger Source contained in Channel -2 Oscilloscope .
4. With the regulator button, set the signal frequency, the display will display frequency readings.
5. Through the amplitude control button, adjust the amplitude of the signal.
6. Using OFFSET button set DC Offset according to requirement level (from -10 Volt to +10 Volt).
7. Before connecting Function Generator to external load ( Oscilloscope , audio circuit), check load impedance.

B. Sweep Generator Output
To get the desired waveform sweep ( sweep ), steps can be done as follows:
1. Connect the main output terminal to Channel- 1 of the Oscilloscope , output Sweep Output to Channel- 2.
2. Channels 2 of the Oscilloscope display a sawtooth waveform.

3 . Using the “RATE” button, set the speed swing signals (from 5 seconds to 10 milli seconds) .
4. Set frequency usage as explained in Function Generator Output .
5 . Drag the “RATE” switch to make SWEEP mode on.
6. Channel- 1 will display the swing wave ( sweep wave ).
Set the width of the swing by using the WIDTH key.

C. Frequency Counter
To use Function Generator as Frequency Counter, steps are required as follows:
1. Check the switch position on the control
“COUPLING”, the switch at the HF position is used for frequencies over 100 kHz. The switch at the LF position is used for frequencies below 100 kHz.
2. When Function Generator functions as
Frequency Counter, (switch in counting mode position ), “EXT COUNTER LED” will light up.
3. Connect the signal from the outside to be calculated its frequency with “EXT COUNTER BNC”.
The display will display the frequency value in Hz / kHz.
