Principles of Electric Motor Control

Said control means regulate or control, so it is with the motor control is the setting or controlling the motor from starting, operating until the motor stops. Then controlling the motors can be categorized into three sections according to their functions, namely:

  • Control at the time of starting (starting)
  • Control when the motor is in a state of operation (setting speed, reversal of direction of rotation and others)
  • Control when the motor stops operating (braking).

In accordance with the development of technologies that trigger the development of the industry, or the way the control system continues to grow. So how can be classified into:

  • Control manually (manual control)
  • Controlling a semi-automatic (semi-automatic control)
  • Automatic control (automatic control)
  • Programmable control (programmable controllers)

In operating an electric motor, in order to function reliably and avoid the disruption and damage, and guaranteed safety against electrical shock hazard, then each installation of electric motors equipped with protective equipment. Ie overload protection, grounding and short circuit.

Induction motors (asynchronous motors), is widely used in industrial facilities and large buildings. Design and simple maintenance, can be customized in a variety of applications in the field and economical operation. This is very beneficial as an induction motor controller solutions in terms of price and quality.

Characteristics of three-phase induction motor is a high load current at the voltage source with direct-on-line starting. Produces the starting current and surge higher if the voltage applied to the full, would result in a decrease in the source voltage and transient effects of torque on the mechanical system.
